National Recruitment Agency to Conduct CET for Central Gov Jobs From Next Year

The central government has announced that the National Recruitment Agency (NRA) will be conducting an online Common Eligibility Test (CET) for the screening and shortlisting of candidates for recruitment to central government jobs for Group-B and C (non-technical) posts.

It was further announced that each district in the country will have one examination centre giving accessibility to the nation's youth. Another objective of this reform is the provision of a level-playing field to all aspirants from any and all economic and social background.

The test would come as a huge advantage for women and people with disabilities and those from underprivileged backgrounds who cannot afford multiple tests in different exam centres due to financial constraints.

The first CET is scheduled to be conducted in the second half of the year 2021.

The NRA will be an autonomous body which would be responsible for conducting the recruitment drive for Staff Selection Commission (SSC), State Selection Boards (RRBs) and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS).

However, it has been decided that the existing recruitment boards would continue conducting certain specific exams according to the requirements and the CET will be the first screening test
